The C&C Marine Phuket cricket 8’s started last week at the ACG.

In the first match the Phuket Blasters were pitted against the Thalang Cricket Team (TCT). The Blasters lived up to their name scoring an impressive 130 runs from their 16 overs. Ali Khan made the most runs for the Blasters who held on for a 24 run win over TCT. In the second C&C Marine match it was Island (ICC) who got the better of an undermanned Patong side.
With only 3 more matches per team remaining and only the top 2 to play off in the final there is a lot at stake again every Sunday.
At noon the Kuckreja Boks will make their first Phuket Cricket appearance against a strengthened Patong side.
The Boks boast an array of South African cricketers and some fresh talent from the Phuket Vagabonds rugby team. Managed by former PCG chairman Anthony van Blerk and the hard hitting Hico McDonald, the Boks will start their first C&C Marine season as short priced favorites.
Patong have added former German international women cricketer Franziska Ziegler to their squad and should also regain skipper Seemant Raju. Ziegler (pictured below) has been out of the game for a couple of years but the all-rounder will be looking to impress in a country where female cricketers lead the way.
In the 2nd match ICC should add a second C&C Marine 8’s win and head to the top of the table. The Islanders captained by Paresh Borkar look to be a real contender in the short format and have plenty of all-round talent to choose from.
TCT will regain Andrew McMillan but have lost 3 experienced players and should struggle for runs tomorrow.
A reminder that new players can purchase a PCG playing membership for 1,500 thb or pay 500 thb to play on the day.
